Commemorating the Jews survival from the threat of annihilation by the Persian king almost 2500 years ago, this happy holiday is celebrated with costumes, a festive meal, giving of food and money to the poor. Join the joyous celebrations and take in some of the many activities throughout the country.

You’ll see streets full of children wearing costumes, hear lots of noise makers and have the experience of viewing all kinds of people in costume, perhaps, even the local bus driver. Because this is a holiday where people travel, public transportation is available.

Purim begins on the 14th day of the month of Adar. In Jerusalem Purim begins one day later on Shushan Purim.  This year, these dates fall on February 24 and February 25, 2013. It is very common for people from all over the country to go up to Jerusalem to have an extra day of Purim fun.
